Colombo, April 8 (Daily Mirror) - Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa today urged the government to immediately reduce fuel prices which were increased due to the Middle East war as a two-week ceasefire has been declared now.

Speaking in Parliament, he said the price of a barrel of Brent crude oil has reduced to USD 95 after the ceasefire was declared.

The Opposition Leader said the government must reduce the fuel prices by midnight today or tomorrow after considering this situation.

He said the government must take steps to strengthen the supply chain of gas, fuel, fertiliser and medicines within the two-week ceasefire period.

I did not realize that getting gas, fuel and fertilizer is so easy as getting bread from the local bakery. May I suggest the government gives Sajith a few hundred dollars to purchase the required fuel, gas and fertilizer utilizing the two week cease fire, please.

It’s best if the our opposition leader takes a long break - not for the government but for the opposition! Even the ardent fan of the opposition cannot stomach the weird statements this guy makes. With so many capable people there taking the government to task effectively (it has not been this easy for any other opposition in the past) this guy doesn’t know where to attack logically. He doesn’t have a cohesive set of sustainable policies that will be valid not only now but also if and when he comes to power. This guy is a disgrace and it’s unfortunate for the nation struggling under an incompetent government to have an equally incompetent and a weird opposition leader!
