Re-export of tea and pepper would be stopped completely and the 50-percent concession given to farmers on seed potatoes would be increased to 100 percent, President Maithripala Sirisena said today.

Addressing a public rally held in Badulla today, the President said re-export of tea had damaged the reputation of Sri Lankan tea.

He said pepper re-exportation had resulted in low prices of peppers in the local market. “Re-exporting of pepper will be stopped to protect our farmers," he said.

this re- exporting of tea process started by the previous government. I still remember Mr. merryl j Fernando the owner of Dilmah was clearly against this move and he said that Ceylon tea will loose the reputation. At least the president has woken up now after 03 years into his tenure and I hope he will translate his words into action

MS you are a coconut to stop the export of tea and pepper You have no clue about these products. All you need is good inspectors to check on the products. Are the products given to the growers of good quality to produce good tea an pepper.You can learn a lot from the Chinese who are well versed in these Agicultural products in case you do no have Sri lankan experts to oversee the Agro based products.No wonder you are a clown in these matters and leave it to the experts.

Dear President,You have to get the advice of experienced people in the field about this. The moment you ban it they will start packing in another country.
