Rauff Hakeem criticises Government over stance on Israel–Qatar attack

Colombo, Sep 15 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) Leader, MP Rauff Hakeem, has criticised the government over its recent statement regarding Israel’s attack on Qatar, linked to the ongoing conflict with Palestine.

In a statement, Hakeem accused the Foreign Ministry of repeatedly failing to differentiate “between an occupier and the occupied, between an air attack and an incident, or worse, between mercenary behaviour and solidarity with victims.”

He further alleged that the government appeared to be in “tactical or strategic collusion” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his administration — not only in relation to crimes committed in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, particularly Gaza, but also in extending support to actions against Iran last June and, more recently, in Qatar.

“The latest remarks on Qatar, like previous statements, expose the government and the Foreign Ministry’s chronic inability to apply ethical and moral standards to Israel and to reject its aggression, prolonged occupation, and threats to regional stability,” Hakeem charged.

The SLMC Leader went on to say that Sri Lanka’s foreign policy apparatus was “not just becoming a pack of jokers, but actively making Sri Lanka a strikingly ‘incidental’ state.”

Srilankan population is bursting from its seams due to certain community having large families. I am not a racist but coming to Srilanka after a long absence I can see this unnatural expansion. Government should ban people having more than 3-4 kids. It’s a shame that religious beliefs are used to destroy this earth.

@Srilankan - Are you really Sri Lankan? Is it that, your absensce has resulted in certain community having large families. Having large family depends on how much you can afford. Government cannot enforce ban on having large families. Besides, having large faililies does not mean that the earth is going to be destroyed, unless you engage yourself in activites detrimental to the environment. Large families have contributed to more income in foreign exchange, from some large families, many members of the same family are working hard abroad and sending the much valued forex for us to survive. Please improve your mentality before you comment.

It is a relay opportunist and he has done a very little to the country and its people with his politics rather he accumulated wealth and money : nothing else : why and how people elect these people into parliament is questionable: during the terrible time for Muslims in this country, they could not do anything but now they have freedom under NPP government at least to speak out freely without fear : they must be thankful to NPP government for that instead they are criticising them
