Colombo, Sept. 4 (Daily Mirror) - Director of the Ratnapura Teaching Hospital, Dr. Imesh Prathapasinghe, has been transferred following allegations of authoritarian conduct, which triggered a two-day strike by doctors at the hospital.
According to the Health Ministry, a complaint filed by a journalist regarding the hospital’s administration, along with several other complaints submitted by staff, patients, and the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA), had been referred to the ministry by the President’s Office.
The ministry’s Emergency Raids Division has already launched a preliminary investigation into the allegations.
Dr. Prathapasinghe has been transferred to the Ministry of Health and Mass Media with immediate effect, subject to disciplinary proceedings and the approval of the Health Services Committee of the Public Service Commission.
According to sources, Dr. Prathapasinghe had displayed similar behaviour during his tenure as director of the Nuwara Eliya, Gampola, and Polonnaruwa hospitals.
