Rare twin elephants attract tourists in Sri Lanka

Rare twin elephants, who were born at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage in Sri Lanka on August 31, 2021, have now become a major tourist attraction.

Sajana and Disa, the twin elephants, have grown into healthy young calves and are often seen joyfully roaming with the herd.

Their presence continues to draw both local and international visitors, highlighting the significance of Pinnawala in elephant conservation and boosting tourism in Sri Lanka.

I recently visited pinnawala with family. I observed some foreigners were disgusted that the so called orphanage is primarily focused on earning money rather than well being and freedom of the Elephants. Forcing the elephants to river, Elephant rides etc, they are in captivity for people to make money! No freedom of choice.

Where have they got the freedom? Can you name such places? Do you know that elephants are killed in wild due to encroaches of the political henchmen, even now in Sigirira and Yala sanctuaries? About 500 killed annually and over 4,000 elephants killed last 14 years and started to decline it as the elephant population getting dwindled. Where were you all this time?

The world's first birth of elephant twins has been announced in Sri Lanka!!! The two special animals are called Sajana and Disa! It's no surprise, SL is an extraordinary country in many ways, with a very special relationship with elephants! They played an outstanding role in Buddha's life and with their high intelligence and pronounced social behavior, they deserve respect and recognition! Unfortunately, they are not always given both, even in SL!!! People should take this powerful and clever creature as an example of steadfastness, cooperation and intelligence in overcoming the challenges of society and nature!!!

This is not the first set of twins born to elephants , but may be the first in Sri Lanka.

I REMEMBER THE LAST ELEPHANT KRAAL WHERE PANAMURE WAS THE LOCALE. A MAJESTIC ELEPHANT WHO WAS THE LEADER OF THE HERD FOUGHT TO BE FREE TILL HE WAS SHOT DEAD. THE OWNER REJOICING AT HIS DASTARDARDLY ACTION. THAT WAS THE LAST KRAAL. WE HAVE COME A LONG WAY BUT MORE TO GO STOP ABUSING ANIMALS ,THEY ARE NOT FOR HUMAN AMUSEMENT.
