Ranil’s lawyers inform court his wife battles cancer, he is sole caretaker

Colombo, August 22 (Daily Mirror) - As the case against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe unfolded at the Fort magistrate’s court today, his lawyers informed court that his wife Prof. Maithree Wickremesinghe was suffering from cancer, and he was the only one there to look after her.

The lawyers further informed court that Wickremesinghe himself was suffering from several health issues such as heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure.

Sri Lankan politicians will get sick immediately after the arrest. We are going to be South Asia's Singapore.. It is voting for the NPP. All politician should return their loot and apologise to the public. The President pardons all of them if they agree to the loot voluntarily and save the prison and court expenses. This is common in all third-world countries. Tamil Nadu is an example. Karunanithy was a poor man but became a billionaire . This is the reality.

Bandaranaike's, Wickramasinghe they were borne Rich, Take it from me NPP will do everything to destroy bribery and corruption the first two years fixing and sending everyone to jail and then they will make mint of money, and the poor citizens will always suffer.

Cannot agree Ranil is not a rogue. He condoned CB scam and defended Mahendran till the last. His cabinet of 2022-2024 was corrupt to the core and Rambukwella was not sacked by Ranil. He is therefore corrupt by complicity in these.

He is obviously a Superman - sole caretaker of Mrs. Ranil and saving the country, doing brilliant interviews with foreign media, being Godfather to the Rajapakse Future, running the country single-handedly. I guess he did all the cooking and cleaning at home as well. Such a big house in Thurstan road.. dont know how he made the time to do everything else !

If he misused public funds - he should be punished. Wife or his health conditions are secondary factors. Look at this issue from a different angle. How many starving children could have been fed using this money?

He is suffering all these illnesses because of the flamboyant life lead at the expense of tax payers. People across the world suffer from all these health issues and more. That is NO reason to excuse his criminal activity. All these clowns live fabulous lives at the expense of the people, while masses suffer. If the common man can be punishes for any atrocity, then so should RW... oh the sad cancer story... that is always the card played... Give it a rests

This is nothing but tye simple (and affirmative) action of karma. You do anything bad it will come back on you. In parallell, any wholsome action one comit is surely to give s/he the best comfort. This principle can't hide or destroy no matter what you do to alter the committed action.
