Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who was remanded until August 26 by Colombo Fort Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura yesterday (22), has been admitted to the prison hospital.

He was admitted following a medical examination upon being brought to the Welikada Prison.

What's new with politicos being sent to remand invariably being fast tracked into prison hospital. Such acts are an insult to the judical process. What was the sudden discovery at a medical evaluation conduct at Welikada? Was the MO a qualified MD? An otherwise healthy looking RW until time of being sent to Welikada develops an ailment requiring hospitalization? Who are the prison and government officials trying to fool?

Yes, you are right. One Doctor who was attached to the prison hospital and who took bribes and send prisoners to prison hospital is now in jail. Worth a outside specialist check up and a report.

Politicians are in the best of health when they are with the people, move around make speeches etc. Moment they are remanded they fall sick that necessitate them to be admitted to Hospital. For some this happens when emotions change suddenly and other tough nuts pretend to be sick. You be the judge about Ranil!

Another invalid, a sick man trying to rule the country, when he has not got the strength of conviction to stand up to his beliefs and taken on the challenge of life in a prison. All of you should take example from FM Fonseka when he was wrongfully arrested and interred in the prison by the rogue Rajapassa which was a true political vendetta.

With this all past and current one in deep trouble. For example take german unofficial tour of Kumara where he met tamil diaspora not vice cancellor which is a pvt tour. Then visiting to see his mother, attending local party rallys at general and local election and list goes on. Kumara made a wrong move with follish officials and now he is also in deep trouble. Lol

Not sure whether it was right to remand RW, because he respects courts. However it does not make sense for RW to be admitted to hospital. Prison department has the obligation to advise the tax payers the criteria for admitting accused person into prison hospital.
