Rainy, windy conditions likely to increase in next 48 hours

The rainy and windy conditions in Sri Lanka are likely to increase over most parts of the island during December 24 and 25, the Metrology Department said.

They said the weather will worsen over the next 48 hours due to a depression in the southwest Bay of Bengal, about 370 km northeast of Trincomalee.

There could be showers in the Northern, Eastern, Uva and North-Central provinces. Thundershowers is forecast at several places elsewhere during the afternoon or night.

The people are advised to be alert and take adequate precautious measures in order to minimize harm caused by gusty winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
