Rains expected to enhance in next few days

The rainy condition is expected to enhance over the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva and Central Provinces during the next few days, starting from today, the Meteorology Department said.

They said heavy showers above 100 mm can be expected at some places in the Uva and Eastern Provinces and in the Matale, Nuwara-Eliya, Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts.

Showers will occur in the Northern, Eastern, North-Central, Uva and Central Provinces and in the Hambantota district. 

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere during the afternoon or night. 

Fairly strong winds upto 40 kmph can be expected at times over the Eastern slopes of the central hills and the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and North-Western Provinces and in the Hambantota and Moneragala districts.

Misty conditions can be expected in the Sabaragamuwa Province and in the Galle and Matara districts during the morning.

Cloudy skies are expected over most parts of the island tomorrow as well.
