Colombo, April 25 (Daily Mirror) - Director General (Planning) of the Transport and Highways Ministry, S.S. Mudalige has been appointed to cover the duties of the position of General Manager, Railways until the Cabinet appoints a suitable officer.
The GMR post fell vacant due to the sudden death of H.M.K.B. Bandara.
The appointment letter related to the post was made by Transport and Highways Ministry Secretary Ranjith Ganganath Rubasinghe and handed over to S.S. Mudalige by Minister Bandula Gunawardena at the Ministry office.
Accordingly, in addition to the position of Director General (Planning) of the Ministry that he currently holds, he will cover the duties of the position of General Manager of Railways.

GM Railway must be a very compitant Engineer with good commercial background. These days very difficult to find since all the best is in private sector of have gone abroad. Only political henchmen are there to take the positions. Hope to get a good person. Administrative officers cannot do this job.
