Railway crossing near Kiriwandala to close temporarily for repairs

Colombo, Feb 24 (Daily Mirror) - The main railway crossing on the High Level Line at Mile 35, Chain 30, between Puwakpitiya and Avissawella on the Kelani Valley Railway Line will be temporarily closed for repairs from March 5  until March 8 .

Railway authorities announced that the crossing, located near Kiriwandala station in the Puwak Kapitiya–Kiriwandala area, will be subjected to both partial and complete closures during the four-day period to facilitate essential maintenance work.

Accordingly, partial closures will take place on Thursday (March 5) and Friday (March 6) from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.

On Saturday (March 7), the crossing will be partially closed from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m., while complete closures will be enforced for half-hour periods between 9.00 a.m. and 1.30 p.m.

Similarly, on Sunday (March 8), partial closures will be in effect from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m., with complete closures for half-hour intervals between 9.00 a.m. and 1.30 p.m.

Authorities have requested the public to use alternative routes during the specified times to avoid traffic congestion and minimize inconvenience. Motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance and follow traffic guidance issued during the repair period.
