Ragging incident: 16 J’pura undergrads suspended

Sixteen students of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura have been temporarily suspended in connection with the incident where a first-year student was injured in a ragging incident, Acting Vice Chancellor of the University said.

The five students who were arrested in connection with the ragging were among those suspended.

A 20-year-old Pasindu Hirushan, was admitted to the ICU at the National Hospital, Colombo after he was hit on the head with a tyre thrown at him by a group of senior students on March 5.

Suspension is at domestic level. They should be dealt with Legally as per the Law of the Land. They deserve the maximum punishment.

Suspension is inadequate. The government has to do a proper investigation to charge whom ever is responsible. This ragging has to stop.

With modern technology will the president send in a few personnel (as freshers) with hidden cameras and nab these criminals. At least once such information gets around these sadist will think twice as any fresher could be a carrying hidden cameras,
