Racial political trends re-emerging in north, south: President

Colombo, Sept. 2 (Daily Mirror) - Racial political trends have started to re-emerge in the north and south for defeated politicians to protect their lost power, President Anura kumara Dissanayake said today.

Speaking at the launch of the Northern Coconut Triangle project in Puthukudiyiruppu, he said racial politics has never been beneficial to the people.

"Racism in the north is a tool of the politicians. Racism in the south is a political tool. Racism is a dangerous tool used by the defeated politicians to re-emerge. We will assure you that the government will never leave room for racial politics in the country again. I hope, as people, you also must refute any form of racism,” he said.

NPP had a good mandate but this govt is looking backward and settling scores with others. No wonder opposition supporters are behaving like JVP style politics of 1988/1989. I am shure the way thing are going, This govt will have lot of challenges and they will be spending more resources and time on sorting day to day issues rather than taking the country to the next stage.

Day to day issues, past issues and taking the Country and its people to the next stage are ALL important. The country cannot move to the next stage without resolving the past and present issues or else the issues of the past and present will EAT into the SYSTEM and GROW like a CANCER. We the PEOPLE have HEARD and observed HEAPS more than WE KNEW of the PAST. Corruption and Mismanagement is the route to all EVIL and the DOWNFALL of the Country. All those who were and STILL ARE responsible for the downfall of the country MUST be brought before a court of law and JUSTICE MUST be served to the PEOPLE in any shape or form. The President and the GOVT will definitely need another term to follow through with sorting out the past, present and going along on some of their Manifesto promises. The President and his Govt are not magicians and or miracle workers and need time to get the country ready to move forward. We MUST KEEP in mind the challenges the President and Govt have are HUGE.
