Colombo, May 8 (Daily Mirror) - Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has spent Rs. 1.27 billion on 23 foreign tours from 2022 to 2024, Chief Government Whip Nalinda Jayatissa told Parliament today.
He said the former President has gone on 4 tours in 2022, 14 tours in 2023 and 5 tours in 2024.
The Minister tabled a document containing the benefits which the country had gained from these tours.

HOWEVER, SHE CONVENIENTLY SWEPT IT ALL UNDER THE CARPET AND AVOIDED THE PLEAS OF THE MILLIONS FDIRECTLY AND INDIRECTLY AND WENT ON HIS MERRY WAY TIHNKING HE WAS GOING TO BECOME THE NEXT PRESIDENT WITH ONLY THE ECONOMY MORE OR LESS SORTED OUT. I'm not a fan of any politician but I will stand up impartially for the truth which is that he had to get the help needed to get the economy off the ground, so travel was necessary. You'll call it "tours" as if those were vacations. At least be upfront and state the purpose of the visit so that readers do not get misled and riled up.

This has been the case always with RW. He has taken advantage of his position during his tenure as Executive President. The present govt cannot take any action about it, as President, he has enjoyed his privileges though his traveloverseas have not benefitted the country. These type of politicians should not be allowed to enter parliament again and again he should now resign and hand over the leadership of his party to able an youngster who can steer the party in the future elections.
