Colombo, April 9 (Daily Mirror) - Residents across multiple provinces have been alerted to expect heightened heat conditions following an Amber-level warm weather advisory issued by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre at 3:30 p.m. today (9).
The advisory, which will be in effect on April 10, covers the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Eastern, North-Western, Northern, and North-Central provinces, along with the Monaragala District.
Officials warn that the heat index, reflecting how hot it feels on the human body, may reach “Caution level” in several affected areas, increasing the risk of heat-related discomfort and illness.
Authorities are advising the public to take precautionary measures, such as drinking plenty of fluids, avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours, and limiting outdoor physical activity to reduce exposure to extreme temperatures.
