Colombo, Dec. 25 (Daily Mirror) - Health officials have warned that road accidents are likely to increase during the ongoing festive season and urged the public to exercise greater caution while travelling.
The warning was issued by health authorities participating in a press conference held at the Health Education Bureau yesterday. Officials noted that increased travel, long-distance journeys, fatigue, speeding, and negligence during festive celebrations often contribute to a rise in traffic accidents.
They highlighted the importance of adhering to road safety regulations, avoiding drunk driving, ensuring vehicle roadworthiness, and taking adequate rest during long journeys. Health officials also called on pedestrians and motorists alike to remain alert and responsible to prevent avoidable injuries and fatalities during the festive period.
