Colombo, Feb. 26 (Daily Mirror) - The probe with regard to the former State Intelligence Services chief Suresh Sallay should be independent and should not be politicised, spokesman for the Archdiocese of Colombo Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando said today.

"Politicising the probe on Sallay would be an injustice where the Easter Sunday victims are concerned," Fr. Fernando told a media briefing.

Independent probes is an unachievable reality in this country. Rajapakse, Daisy Forest case govt losing one side and gaining cheap publicity by getting Salley detained. Both Police and Military maintain networks of information on a give and take basis with underworld characters, terrorists, three wheeler driers, drug dealers etc. So it is important that similar to the embarasing Millenium city LRRP expose, this case does not compell the intelligence chief give away some crucial informants.

Whether it was Lasantha Wickrematunge, Shani Abeysekara or any well wisher for the country who crossed path of the previous regimes, were silenced one way or the other. At least think of the victims of Easter Sunday and give them a chance to find out exactly what happened. The present regime seem to be much open and humble in the way they are conducting themselves. One thing for sure if you not support this regime in anything they do, the foxes to who took the country to the cleaners will be back for hunting again
