Probe into incorrect data provided to PM on ‘Chichi’s Rocket’
Colombo, August 13 (Daily Mirror) - Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe has announced an investigation into the inaccurate information supplied to Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya regarding the Supreme SAT project, widely known as ‘Chichi’s rocket’.
The Prime Minister recently presented details in Parliament about revenue generated by the company behind the project.
However, Minister Samarasinghe later clarified that the figures were incorrect, stressing that the data had been provided by officials to the PM and not independently verified.
“When the Prime Minister responds in Parliament, it is the responsibility of the relevant officials to provide accurate information. Unfortunately, this mistake has drawn public attention. I made a statement to ensure the correct facts were shared,” Samarasinghe told reporters.
He added that the government had detected the error and that PM Amarasuriya had already indicated in Parliament that the information originated from officials and would be further examined.
