Prison authorities allow festive food items for inmates on Christmas Day

Colombo, Dec. 25 (Daily Mirror) - Prison authorities have made special arrangements to allow visitors to bring food and sweets for inmates in celebration of Christmas Day today (25).

Prison Media Spokesperson and Prison Commissioner Jagath Weerasinghe said the concession has been granted as part of efforts to mark the religious festival and uplift the morale of inmates. Under the arrangement, visitors are permitted to bring an adequate quantity of food or sweets for one inmate, in line with existing prison regulations.

The special measure applies to all prisons islandwide and is intended to enable inmates to share the joy of the Christmas season with their families and well-wishers. Prison officials have reminded visitors to comply with security procedures and guidelines during visits.
