Colombo, September 10 (Daily Mirror)- The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill has no bearing on the security of former Presidents after its enactment, Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala said today.

He told Parliament that adequate security has been provided to all former Presidents and that if anyone has security threats, they can request for security.

The Minister said a committee has been appointed to oversee the threat assessments of former Presidents and added that they can inform the committee on their security threats and seek additional security.

He said the Bill seeks to remove the unlimited perks and privileges enjoyed by former Presidents at public cost where former President Mahinda Rajapaksa had been provided 111 additional staff and even a dog keeper.

The Minister said if anyone has issues with housing facility or any other difficulty, they can make a request to the President and get their issues resolved.

"However, it is not reasonable for those who have enough houses and wealth to obtain houses and other perks at public expense," he said.

Well said Minister, AKD government is on the right track to save money going out from the public purse. If they cannot find housing prov ide them with reasonable housing on rent and not "Palaces"

Now the deal is done, it is over. Just to remind that last week so called minister of health said repeal of entitlements is not targeted for MR. Now the comrade security make reference particularly to MR. Readers you are entitled to make your own conclusions. Now something to inspire Washingtons. Country spent approximately Rs 110 million for entitlements and gullible public were made to hate ex presidents for using public funds. The cost to a citizen is Rs. 5 per year. On the other hand Rs. 300 million is allocated for national festival in October. The cost to each citizen for this single event is Rs. 13.63. What for the telling Sir, boat is going sixty sixty.
