RELEASING THE SUSPECTS SOUND FISHY!!!. GOVT MUST INTERFERE WHEN IT IS FOUND THAT STOOGES IN THE LEGAL SYSTEM MAKE DECISIONS TO SAFEGUARD AND OR COVER UP THE SUSPECTS AND OR THOSE WHO MAY HAVE PLAYED AN INDIRECT PART IN THIS MURDER.

AKD has summoned the AG and CID for a meeting. According to Samarasinghe, the government will not interfere with law enforcement authorities in their investigations. So, what is the purpose of the meeting between AKD and AG and CID? Just to say "hi", ask "how are you?", and have a cup of tea, wasting taxpayers' money? How immature this government in statecraft!

Regarding the president summoning the AG he has every right to do that. In fact he should have paid more attention to what the AGs department was up to because he made some over the top promises regarding justice which is now turning out to be hollow. The stuff ups are beginning to pile up.

For those immature comments wondering on the purpose of the meeting, obviously to see what other avenues are there to be taken. He’s not calling in the judges to discuss how to justify the verdict! He’s called in the prosecuting team investigating the case.

This is a bad precedent where the Executive is interfering in the independency of the Judiciary. The checks and blances of the pillars of governance is on the Independency of the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary. The recent faux paus where the three accused who were instrumental in the abduction case of the driver as the case could not have been taken forward were recommended to be released should have been held in abeyance since the finding of the mastermind of the murder of Lasantha which was in the pipeline and could have some bearing on the outcome of Lasantha's murder. The best option regarding the release should have been to refer this to the Chief Justice which comes under her purview!!!!!!!

No one complained when Rajapakse's interfered with the judiciary, even brought the AG's department under the purview of the office of the President. AG's department files cases and prosecutes on behalf of the govt. So what is wrong in the President meeting ( not instructing or giving the judgment in this case) President is meeting the AG not the CJ

The Minister of Justice Harshana Nanayakkara who was there with the President in this 2 hour meeting told reporters after the meeting that nothing significant was discussed in two hours.
