If it is Mara or Piyano there would have been their cronies holding banners at the airport ,stating welcome our president who saved our country.

Good trip , well done. In the eyes of the world Sri Lanka has moved up a little, on the ladder all within just a week. Now, keep up the momentum without any break.

For most citizens of free and democratic Sri Lanka, this country is on its way down the ladder if it ties itself too closely to China. Tying itself to a dictatorship thousands of kilometres away, thinking only of itself and currently suffering an economic downturn, will not take Sri Lanka a step forward. On the contrary, Sri Lanka should cooperate more with the world's largest democracy, which is only 35 kilometres away, to share in its economic upswing.

@ Dr Phil Germany , who ever you are , you must have had your education at an institute for the mentally retards. Even Britain one of the G7 countries in the world sent its Chancellor of Exchequer ( Finance Minister ) only ten days ago to China desperately seeking Chinese investments in Great Britain. But Chinese were not sympathetic to her requests and she had to return disappointingly empty handed from China. Now contrast this to our President's visit to China. He was able to return showing so many " goodies " for Sri Lanka; billions of dollars worth of investments are going to pour into Sri Lanka. Within a short period of time Sri Lanka is going to look so different and positive than it has ever been since our independence 76 years ago .

Why should this be a news item at all; he did not flee the country nor was he expected to stay in China permanently.
