President leaves for Singapore, Japan



President Ranil Wickremesinghe left the country early this morning to attend an international conference in Singapore and Japan, the officer in charge of the BIA confirmed.

First lady, Maithrie Wickramasinghe, Sagala Ratnayake, Nimal Siripala de Silva, the president's private secretary, Sandra Perera and others were among the President's delegation that left the BIA.

The group had left on Malaysian Airlines flight MH-178 at 12.30 a.m.

Following the visit to Singapore, President Wickremesinghe and his delegation will leave for Japan to participate in the "Future of Asia-28" conference, which will be held in Tokyo from May 25 to 26. (T.K.G. Kapila)
