President leaves for Singapore, Japan

President Ranil Wickremesinghe left the country early this morning to attend an international conference in Singapore and Japan, the officer in charge of the BIA confirmed.

First lady, Maithrie Wickramasinghe, Sagala Ratnayake, Nimal Siripala de Silva, the president's private secretary, Sandra Perera and others were among the President's delegation that left the BIA.

The group had left on Malaysian Airlines flight MH-178 at 12.30 a.m.

Following the visit to Singapore, President Wickremesinghe and his delegation will leave for Japan to participate in the "Future of Asia-28" conference, which will be held in Tokyo from May 25 to 26. (T.K.G. Kapila)

We've absolutely NO future with this bunch of politicians, my question is, why attend the future of Asia conference!?? HUH!! We're bankrupt, and there's no light at the end of the tunnel, future is bleak no prospects. The leaders are eternally trying to borrow money. No plans for increasing GDP. Importing every damn thing!! This country needs change of political system and the political culture. And I strongly believe new vision must emerge with new politicians running this country. And that change could be provided by ONLY රතු සහෝදරයන්, yeah!! And that's the change require voters endorsement in millions, and voters must MUST make that change in order to have any chance for Sri lankans!!

I wonder why the president and group dont fly with Srilankan airlines?.. Last time he went uk with emirates, now Malaysian. I am sure there will be empty seats in business and first class in Srilankan. If he fly with srilankan, the no outflow of dollars due to ticket purchasing. He avoid srilankan due to safety concern?.

You may disagree with me but Ranil is educated and Academic type of president as his uncle JR ...a wise enemy is better than unwise friend in politics...so compared to three previous president IE ( MR; MS and Gota ) Ranil is far better and to develop any country today we need some educated and knowledgeable person. In this sense I really appreciate his efforts to develop this country..Let him go anywhere in the world even to Moon to develop this country..I'm supporting this trip and I'm confident he will bring some experience to share with us and he will take some thing for his trip ..

Ranil needs to take his finger from where it is stuck to systematically build a sustainable, self reliant economy through a massive export exercise, stop all wastage, reutilise 7 President residences profitably, expand home grown products, food to save $, etc etc

Many foreign trips taken up by our president for basically non essential participation. Not sure what benefit he would bring to the country? He may be travelling with his Royal entourage as well. Gota did not visit a single country and he was chased out.
