President leaves for Germany

President Ranil Wickremesinghe left for Germany to deliver the opening remarks at the Leaders' Dialogue session during the 'Berlin Global Dialogue' on September 28-29, the President's Media Division (PMD) said.
This event draws influential persons from politics, business and society to discuss global geopolitical and economic issues.
The President will also meet other prominent conference attendees during his visit, the PMD said.

There are many coming out of university having studied economics, public finance and geopolitics who do not qualify to get anywhere close to the stage on which he so confidently engages other learned persons on similar topics internationally. Some who have serious chips on their shoulders will no doubt cast aspersions on his capability.

As a German who is currently back in the country and a good expert on Sri Lanka, I wish Ranil Wickremesigne, despite the fact that he is a president not elected by the people, much success in his contact discussions with the international business elites represented in Berlin in the interests of those suffering People of Sr Lanka!!! This country deserves the help and support of international countries because of its people who face an extremely difficult struggle for life every day!!! Not because of the vast majority of current politicians who have brought this wonderful country close to bankruptcy!!! But the political change in Sri Lanka will come, I am sure, with a strong, incorruptible president (Sarath Fonseka!), a responsible government and parliamentarians who will primarily make revitalizing the economy and the well-being of the people the goal of their policies make !!!

One doesn't have to study economics at a university to master economics. One of the former Australian prime ministers Paul Keating was awarded Honorary Doctorates in Laws from both Keio University in Tokyo and the National University of Singapore. He had no formal university education. Where in Sri Lanka, there are so many people with official university qualifications but have never been to a university.

Why cannot Ranil (and other leaders on the begging crawl for $) participate through zooming? This will save a fortune on flights, accommodation and meals, In the year of his office, how many overseas trips has Ranil made and how many days was he away from SL lecturing other countries how to be prudent and frugal?

If one has been in business negotiations they will understand the difference between a zoom calls and an in person meetings. The comparosons of the two options are extreme. If people only bothered to carefully scrutinise his itenerary and agendas on the recent visit to Cuba and Washington they would understand what was undertaken and accomplished and that it was no joy trip.

First you have a dialogue with your own people the 50% who have been pushed below poverty levels, the ones who are going to bed with just one meal, the ones who cannot bear the escalating cost of living, the ones who lost their jobs, the ones who cannot feed their children, the farmers who cannot get fair prices, the sick who cannot afford good medication, the common man and woman who are angry at the rampant corruption even while country is bankrupt and the protection extended to the mega Rajapakse looters. Then you can attend the Belin dialogue, UN dialogue etc.
