President appoints committee to probe corruption at SriLankan Airlines
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has ordered the formation of a special committee to investigate allegations of corruption and irregularities at SriLankan Airlines.
The committee will be led by the Presidential Secretariat, according to a statement issued by the President’s Media Division (PMD).
The directive was given during a high-level meeting held at the Presidential Secretariat this afternoon, which brought together the airline’s Board of Directors and representatives from all affiliated trade unions. The four-hour discussion focused on securing a sustainable future for the struggling national carrier while maintaining state ownership.
President Dissanayake emphasized the urgent need for collective responsibility in restructuring the loss-making airline. He made it clear that the General Treasury would not provide any further financial support and called for improved financial management and institutional efficiency to stabilize the airline’s operations.
