Colombo, April 8 (Daily Mirror) - President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in Parliament yesterday admitted that the coal that has been procured in the recent past is of inferior quality and it has affected generation of power in Norochcholai.

Addressing Parliament, the President said the production of power at Norochcholai has been reduced to some extent as a result of inferior quality coal. “There has been no issue with regard to the tender procedure to award the coal supply contract. The issue is with the quality of coal which has reduced the power production. We have decided to charge a fine from the supplier. This is our government. We will not let the supplier get away unlike the other governments. Therefore, we will charge a fine from the supplier,” he added
