President Dissanayake to leave for USA tomorrow

Colombo, Sep 21 (Daily Mirror) - resident Anura Kumara Dissanayake is scheduled to depart for the United States tomorrow (22) night to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During the visit, the President will address the General Assembly on Wednesday (24) at 3.15 pm local time and engage in bilateral discussions with the UN Secretary-General and several world leaders.

President Dissanayake is also scheduled to meet with Sri Lankans residing in the United States. He will be accompanied on this visit by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath.

Even if the flight were booked with friends and family, it could be accepted if the visits resulted in gains to the country. What can you expect from AKD's visit to the UN? NOTHING. Just nod the head and come back. The problem with Bolshevik-Marxists is that their thinking is very narrow. They focus only on minor outward things (like how many people travelled on board the plane, etc.), not on the complex economic or geopolitical aspects.

Yes we had lot ,the country was very happy with those who speak fluently in queens' English. Sadly the country declared bankrupt after 76 years of their governance . In one year back the man who could nod only ,according to you , took the country out of the economic quagmire within 1 year of his governance. How is that?

I really welcome this trip and I hope that Sri Lanka will hugely benefit from this trip: why and how ? Our former presidents and PMs have been many official trips like this many times : what benefits those trips got for us ? Many of them enjoyed their official trips as holiday making with their friends and families on public fund but our country got very little: ? Now , this leadership is different from all those leaders : first of all , our president is a science graduate with long political experience to understand the arts of diplomacy, geopolitics, economies or trade deals between nations and countries : so, our president will get first hand experience and skills from these trips : former presidents and PMs depends of their secretaries and civil servants to seek advice from them on these matters but our president is wise enough and competent enough to deeply comprehend all those challenges and problems: So it is many times good for us

It is funny some readers expect the president to beg other counrties while opposing UN resolution on international hearing.
