Colombo, Dec. 20 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has thanked UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the UAE’s continued humanitarian assistance to communities affected by recent floods and heavy rainfall in Sri Lanka.
The appreciation was conveyed during a telephone conversation between the two leaders, during which Sheikh Mohamed extended his heartfelt condolences to President Dissanayake and the Sri Lankan people over the loss of life caused by the floods. He also expressed his wishes for the country’s safety and resilience in facing the ongoing challenges.
The UAE’s swift response reflects its longstanding humanitarian approach of delivering timely support to communities impacted by natural disasters and crises worldwide. The assistance aims to ease the immediate burden on affected populations while contributing to long-term recovery efforts, according to a statement.
Emergency relief operations were launched through the Joint Operations Command, the UAE Agency for International Aid and the Emirates Red Crescent to support flood-affected communities in Sri Lanka.
