Colombo, April 24 (Daily Mirror) - Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) yesterday said its leader Sajith Premadasa is ready for the proposed debate with National People's Power (NPP), leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake on the policies of both parties on economic issues in the month of May but not on dates proposed by NPP Member Nalinda Jayatissa.
Dr Jayatissa proposed that the NPP Leader is ready for the date on May 7, 9, 13 or 14. However MP Nalin Bandara said in a statement that Mr. Premadasa cannot make it during those days as he has planned to hold a few conferences including a women's conference and a farmer's conference.
Mr. Premadasa also in a public meeting said he is willing to have a debate with his NPP counterpart in May but not on the days proposed by Dr. Jayatissa. "We should have two debates which include the one between the leaders of the two parties and the other between the economic expert teams of both parties," he said.

Hey NPP the debate is bad idea. You give 4 possible dates and SJB rejected all 4 dates, think about it they're trying to dictate terms. From the beginning I told you NPP the debate is an bad idea, you don't need to do it. Your opponents wants to bite the bait!!

The leaders' debate must be preceded by the debate of Economic Councils. It must be a condition. If the member/s of the councils cross over, by the nomination date, if any election is held, another must be held, followed by another Leaders' debate on consensus. Actions performed, too must be elaborated as talks only do not ensure credibility as the actions matter.

Given so many dates to choose and as usual, showing off his arrogance towards an important debate. Seems he’s chickening out from responsibility again and just wants to continue enjoying being in the opposition. Because he can continue collecting the parliamentary perks such as full security details, SUVs, Office with staff etc at the expense of taxpayers. Be a gentleman and postpone one of your “appointments” on one of those days NPP is willing to debate with you. You still have around a month to sort out new dates for your other “appointments”.
