Poovarasankulam OIC arrested for soliciting Rs. 500,000 bribe



Colombo, May 22 (Daily Mirror) - The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Poovarasankulam Police Station in Vavuniya has been arrested by the Bribery Commission for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs. 500,000.

The arrest followed a complaint lodged by a resident of Settikulam, who claimed that the OIC had demanded the bribe to resolve a land dispute and facilitate related work on the complainant’s property without obstruction. 

He was arrested by the Bribery Commission officials while soliciting the bribe at the OIC’s office.
