Colombo, Sept. 8 (Daily Mirror) - Looking at the politicians who panicked during the arrest of notorious organised criminal Mandinu Padmasiri, alias ‘Kehelbaddara Padme,’ and his associates, shows the connections between drugs and the underworld, Mass Media and Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said.
He urged the media to examine the politicians who panicked during the arrest of underworld gangsters and drug dealers. Minister Jayatissa claimed that many of the ingredients used to manufacture crystal methamphetamine (ICE) were recovered from land owned by these politicians. He added that police statements have confirmed the recoveries related to ICE production.
“Further political connections may emerge as investigations into this drug network continue. The law will take its course and court cases will be filed,” he said.
“People should wait and see how the government delivers justice for their votes. Everyone—including politicians, businessmen and underworld figures—will be held accountable under the law,” the Minister added.Politicians panicking during criminal arrest reveals underworld drug links: Minister
