It ain't gonna happen!! Rajapaksa clan especially MR don't know how much ill-gotten wealth they accumulated!! When you're stealing hard to keep a track, real count or record, huh.

    Amaran Monday, 29 January 2024 01:41 AM

How are you going to check the OFF-SHORE BANK ACCOUNTS where the robbed monies are kept AND the overseas properties ?

    Citizen Monday, 29 January 2024 01:45 AM

Politicians are well-versed with hiding and hoodwinking the people. They will declare false statement every year. Even the electricity bills they are not settling and no actions taken by anyone, what action they are going to do for this. All election gimmicks.

Sam Silva Monday, 29 January 2024 03:26 AM

It will never happen. Didn't you try before and no one declared but ird go after the innocent people and give them a difficult time.

    dana Monday, 29 January 2024 05:31 AM

We are expecting to use RTI to find the accuracy of those declarations

    Wiseman Monday, 29 January 2024 05:51 AM

Asset declaration must include family members, and relatives. Because politicians spread their ill gotten wealth under other peoples names.

    Jerome Monday, 29 January 2024 06:38 AM

Just a suggestion: Create a complain submitting website with an option as an annonimus/ or real identity, evidence could be submitted as images, documents, voice, or even post it to a po box. Complains received / Action taken /Ref. Number

How can you justify this? Monday, 29 January 2024 07:26 AM

The Lanka Govt. servant who draws around Rs.250/- a month, paid PAYE tax, when he used Railway warrants once a year. Value of railway warrants is added to the salary for PAYE calculation. Today millions are given as non monetary benefits for all politicians, but there is no return to the country as tax!

It is not what is said in legislation and who is liable, it is about enforcement. Also they should always ask where the money came from. Inland Revenue Dpt and other useless places never did this and never will examine it. First of all, all Inland Revenue officials' assets must be examined and ask them to prove where the money came from.

    Sambo Monday, 29 January 2024 07:40 AM

Very bleak if anything such will happen in this government or will declare wrong information.

    Jude Monday, 29 January 2024 07:41 AM

Most politicians don't have any idea of how much ill-gotten wealth they've accumulated!! Just to give you an idea The Rajapaksa family top 5 richest family in Asia. Most of the Rajapaksa's wealth invested in Uganda and THOSE investments protected and guarded by Tamils and mostly Tamils working in those without pay and only food and lodging provided!! MR's brood has invested in various places including Supermarket's in London England. Also invested in CSE using numerous Shell companies

What a thoughtful decision and a joke of the new year. It is on record where a bribery commissioer drew a salary for several years and never had a case before him

    Jayantha Monday, 29 January 2024 08:31 AM

Lol. What about offshore assets of ta. You can take action against him as everything related tocit are exposed now. Other politicians should not worry as no action taken yet again TA assets oveseas purchased via shell companies.

Hope you succeed in getting the truth. Impose high fines and jail for fraudulent declarations. The citizens also must tip off fraudsters and support the country. The Inland Revenue must promptly refund with holding tax above the threshold.

    Ram Monday, 29 January 2024 08:51 AM

More than 50% of the required people will not lodge their assets declarations. Let us watch if BC would take any action against those who fails submit their assets declarations

Rip Winkle Monday, 29 January 2024 09:01 AM

Right now, former Malaysian finance minister in courts over non disclosure of assets and may face a jail term if convicted. Anybody seriously believe that any of our politicians will ever find themselves in a similar scenario in Sri Lanka?

ranil rajapaksa criminal syndicate Monday, 29 January 2024 09:01 AM

If this is genuine, start with the rajapaksas. Let's see if this is not another ploy by the government to harrass it's opponents.

    DPerera Monday, 29 January 2024 09:22 AM

Now JVP leaders also must declare their assets held outside Sri Lanka
