Colombo, Sept. 11 (Daily Mirror) - A group of politicians and foreign representatives visited the official residence of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Wijerama Road, Colombo, this morning, amid reports that he is set to vacate the premises today.

Under the provisions of the Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Act, residences allocated to former presidents must be returned to the government.

Rajapaksa, who has been occupying official residences, lost this entitlement following the enactment of the bill passed in Parliament yesterday (10).

Excellent Mr. AKD, this is accurately very good, I think the former presidents, almost every entitles should be cut, I don't think this government will not change for at least 20 years.

At least there are some people, even foreigners who remember the work done by MR during his time. Maybe he did some wrong towards the end, but then who hasn't? He at least didn't burn public property and kill people by their thousands. I just wish our people had more empathy and gratitude in their hearts instead of this vile hatred that's raging within them. I was never a fan of MR. but I will always feel grateful to him for ending the war.

People like you are why Sri Lanka's growth and development has been stunted. There's no small wrong. Accountability and paying for what you do should be the doctrine of this country. Stop hero worshipping representatives who have been voted to serve the tax payers. It's not the other way around. He was corrupt and so was his family hence why they were chased out. All the people who gather around him are people who have gained and got rich in a short time. Who would have had to have work hard to make ends meet and may not even have dreamt of earning vast amounts of rogue money. The war ended in 2009 again a war started by politicians and a war fought with our own country men. It's a shameful period in our history. Rajapakshes are history now. Move on.
