Colombo, September 15 (Daily Mirror)- A politician who is not bound by feelings with the people can never become a peoples' leader, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa said today.

In a post on his Facebook account, he said though the term of Presidency could end, the peoples' love will never end.

"Most of my life passed among the people. It is the same even today. Term of Presidency could end, but people's love exceeds the term. That never ends. People stood with Mahinda Rajapaksa when in power and when not in power," he said in the post.

He said he is grateful to the Maha Sanga who visit him at his Carlton residence and invoke blessings and thanked the people, politicians and professionals who vist him and inquire about his health.

So you are ingenue to use people’s affection and rob their entitlements behind their back. If you have left politics after winning the war you would have been people’s king forever. Instead you had thirst in money and it never ended. A country needed infrastructure like roads bridges etc. You built those not because the country needed them but those loans would allow you to rob a huge part as commissions. If you didn’t steal, the country could have doubled the infrastructure from the loan money or country could have been liable half of loan money if we only needed the infrastructure you built.
