Policeman arrested over court shooting

Colombo, Feb 20 (Daily Mirror) - Police arrested a 25-year-old policeman attached to the Negombo Police Station over the shooting of Sanjeewa Kumara Samararathne alias ‘Ganemulla Sanjeewa’ inside the Colombo Magistrate's Court.

Police said the policeman, a resident of Padeniya, is believed to have aided the female suspect in the shooting.

Investigations have revealed that he had a telephone conversation with the female suspect before the incident.

After recording initial statements, the policeman was taken to the Colombo Crimes Division for further investigations.

If the police officers are directly involved in the virulent crimes along with underworld leaders as to how the department of police is conducting the investigations against the culprits. Therefore we want to ascertain whether the IGP is setting up another investigation bureau in order to check and verify the honesty of the police officers who are probing in to the vital inquiries
