No suspects have been arrested so far over the killing of State Minister D.V. Chanaka's father-in-law, a textile businessman in Galle, Police said.
Police spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said several police teams have been deployed to apprehend the suspects.
The 61-year-old entrepreneur, Lalith Wasantha Mendis, who owned a textile shop in the Galle city, was killed by unidentified gunmen while travelling in a car along Dickson Road in Galle yesterday.
He died after being admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.
Police said the assailants fired multiple rounds at the victim, killing him while he was seated in the driver's seat. Galle Police are conducting investigations.(DSB)

Had this been an ordinary person the police wouldn’t have even budged. Since it’s a politicians father they will move heaven and earth to find the culprit. Our police couldn’t even catch a cold.

Despite of him "being anybody's Servant" (Rajapakse or Not), doesn't deserve to be killed like that!!?? Reminds me of 1988/89 Mayhem (which depicted, Inhumane 'Low-Life' of "Perpetrators"), which Lankans don't deserve in any “form or shape” to be part of their Life!!?? Chameleons, may change Colour/Shape and NOT their “In-born Characteristics/Habits”!!!??? Hope and Pray that is NOT the case herein!? All Hands to ensure ‘RULE OF LAW’ – as ‘MAXIM’!!!???

Irrespective of who is getting killed, they are human beings, without any apparent justice taking place. Police says to report any misdeeds to them, but when justice is happening for along long periods of time, people take the law into their own hands. Without blaming people for that, please take immediate action to amend laws and to give immediate justice, including death penalty etc. I maintain that our present legal system is not suitable at all to our country at present, at least for the ordinary citizen. For the supper rich and powerful people this system has been careated.

Yesterday, why did you say i don't know that was D V Chanaka's father in law? The whole country knows but the police don't know?

The intended target of the killers may have been DVC and not his father in law which was unfortunate!
