Police sergeant dies in Wellawaya road accident

Colombo, Oct. 27 (Daily Mirror) - A 36-year-old police sergeant died following a road accident in Adawelayaya along the Wellawaya–Thanamalwila main road, police said.

The accident occurred after an army bus travelling from Thanamalwila towards Wellawaya collided head-on with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

The motorcyclist, a police sergeant from Rajamawatha, Wellawaya, was seriously injured and taken to the Wellawaya Hospital, where he later died.

Wellawaya Police have launched further investigations into the incident.
