Police say Yoshitha Rajapaksa not involved in nightclub brawl

Colombo, March 24 (Daily Mirror) - Initial investigations have revealed that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa's son, Yoshitha Rajapaksa was not involved in the brawl that took place at the Octopussy nightclub on Park Street in Colombo over the weekend.

The Slave Island Police launched investigations after a group accompanying Yoshitha Rajapaksa was involved in a clash outside the nightclub on Friday.

The altercation was recorded on CCTV cameras. A bouncer from the club was injured during the incident and is currently receiving medical treatment.

It was reported that the brawl took place following an argument between the bouncers of the nightclub and the group after the security guard had informed them that it was mandatory to wear identification wristbands to remain in the club. An argument broke out during an inquiry by the security guard as one of the group members did not have such a badge.

According to police, Yoshitha Rajapaksa and his wife had left the scene when the altercation broke out.

Police said the suspects involved in the incident were identified, and investigations are underway to arrest them.

Tactical withdrawal on Yoshitha’s part and used his friends (goons) to do his dirty work. However a lot must be said for the lady who fought back an entire group. Well done on her part. She fearlessly and courageously fends them off. She didn’t hesitate to blast the Rajapakse too. Even RW being the brave man he is, wouldn’t have dared what the lady did.

The whole problem as a result of the political culture, children of politicians who became rich by corruption and malpractices, don't need to work, have too much money and having fun is their only choice. Some time back Mervyn Silva's son too got caught in a similar incident. Then, long ago, former minister Kanchana Wijesekera when he was young too was involved in such an incident.
