Colombo, March 23 (Daily Mirror) - Eleven more suspected criminals of underworld gangs were arrested yesterday during the special operation launched to crack down on organized criminal activities.
The police and the STF launched special operations targeting 20 identified organized criminal gangs in the country under the 'Yukthiya' initiative last Tuesday (19) following the concerning increase in organized criminal activities in the Western and Southern Provinces.
Police said a total of 38 underworld criminals of notorious underworld gangs led by figures such as 'Kudu Anju', Dematagoda Chaminda, Kanjipani Imran, Keselwatte Dinuka, Ladiya and Kosgoda Sujee have been arrested as of yesterday during the operation.
They said the arrested suspects are being detained for further questioning.
