Police arrest 147 foreign nationals in Chilaw hotel raid

Colombo, April 3 (Daily Mirror) - Police arrested 147 foreign nationals during a raid conducted at a hotel in Iranavila, Chilaw, police said.

According to authorities, the detainees include foreign nationals from several countries, comprising 133 Chinese nationals, 13 Bangladeshi nationals, and a Vietnamese national.

Police said that a tense situation arose during the operation as several suspects attempted to flee the premises during the raid. During the commotion, two Chinese nationals sustained injuries while trying to escape. They were later admitted to the Chilaw District General Hospital for treatment.

Police also seized a large quantity of electronic equipment believed to have been used in fraudulent activities. The items taken into custody include 143 laptop computers, 120 desktop computers, and 370 mobile phones.
