Police Commission approves transfer of 9 SSPs and 28 OICs

Colombo, March 09 (Daily Mirror) - Nine Senior Superintendents of Police (SSP), including the director of the Bribery Commission and 28 Police OICs, have been transferred with immediate effect.

Police said the transfers were made as per the approval of the National Police Commission.

Accordingly, transfers have been given to the Director of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) SSP A.H.N Asanka, R.G.A.B Gunathilake, K. K.K Gunasekara, A.A.R.P. Amarasinghe and N.R.H.P Gunasekara.

Police said four SSPs have been appointed to the posts of Acting deputy inspectors general of police (DIGs) with immediate effect.

Accordingly, SSP M.N.S. Mendis has been appointed as the acting DIG in charge of the Batticaloa District.

SSP W.P.J. Senadheera has been assigned as the acting DIG in charge of the Western Province Traffic Division.

SSP D.M.M.A.B. Mahagiriulla has been appointed as the DIG in charge of the Ratnapura District.

SSP K.M.U.P. Kaluapahana has been appointed as the acting DIG in charge of Monaragala District.

They must have learnt it wasn't going to end on a good note for them. If government servants leave their political affiliations behind when doing their job, it would be so much better for the overall stability of the country.

I think the positions they held are to serve their past political masters who might have been defeated at the polls. It is better to assign them new areas/work so that they can work with some dedication and honesty

These SSPs and OICs are very close associates of Mahinda Rajapakshe. Not only transfers, but their services should also be terminated. Most of them are recruited by Mahinda.
