Planned train strike called off

Colombo, July 29 (Daily Mirror) - The Locomotive Operating Engineers’ Union has called off the 48-hour token strike that was scheduled to commence from midnight today.

The decision came following successful discussions held between union representatives and senior officials, including the Secretary to the Ministry of Transport.

The union had earlier announced the strike action in protest over several unresolved demands. However, after the talks, they agreed to suspend the planned strike, citing a willingness to continue dialogue with authorities.
