With the facilities introduced by the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau (SLFEB), people are now vigilant when searching foreign agencies for their foreign employment, SLFEB Deputy General Manager Mangala Randeniya said.
He told the Daily Mirror that the Bureau is still receiving many inquires about foreign employment agencies to find out whether they are fake or real.
"We have introduced a system to provide the details of the agencies and of the registered foreign employees in an instant. Raids are conducted immediately on the fake agencies upon the details of the inquiries received," he said.
Therefore, people should be very vigilant when searching for employment abroad. The SLFEB has established a help desk to provide on the spot solution to the inquirers.
Due to instant actions taken by the Bureau, many frauds were prevented. People can lodge their inquiries to the emergency hotline 1989 24-hours a day in all three national languages, he said.
"People can also cross-check their documents in detail with the Bureau. There are about 150,000 registered overseas jobs are available with the Bureau, and those vacancies are duly and equally distributed among the agencies registered with the Bureau.
People can enroll themselves free of charge for foreign employment in the hotel trade. Mr. Randeniya added that people can also visit the SLFEB official website and look for potential job openings. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
