Colombo, April 9 (Daily Mirror) - A peeping-tom in the habit of entering houses at the dead of night and watching women asleep, was arrested by the Haliela police in the early hours of last morning.
The 36-year-old suspect is a resident of the Boralanda area and a bus driver by profession.
He was caught red handed when he entered a house at Udakumbalwela in Ella by breaking open a door and attempting to watch the women who were asleep.
He had fled from the scene and boarded a Badulla bound bus from Colombo when the occupants of the house woke up and gave chase to catch him.
However, on a complaint received from the occupants of the house a police team under OIC Haliela police IP Ruwan Gunatilaka had checked the bus in Haliela town and arrested the suspect who alighted from the bus and ran away along the Nuwara Eliya road.
Police said he was wanted in connection with unlawful entry into about six houses in the Ella police area. The police also seized a set of tools used by him to break open the doors of houses.
The suspect was handed over to the Ella police for further action.
