Parliamentary Council approves Sanjay Rajaratnam as new AG

The Parliamentary Council has approved the appointment of Acting Solicitor General Sanjay Rajaratnam PC as the new Attorney General (AG) following the retirement of the incumbent Attorney General, Parliament sources said.

This decision was taken at the Parliamentary Council meeting held today under the patronage of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardane.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa, Minister of Fisheries Douglas Devananda and Member of Parliament Kabir Hashim attended the meeting.

Past records of AG who were Tamils is this. Pasupathy said he was only a carpenter for JR's constitution making. He sure showed his "Thatchan" skills. Enough said. Don't get your hopes up. This appointment of someone having a Tamil name is to hoodwink the so-called international community, UNHRC and for any new furniture making or fixing or varnishing any old ones.
