Colombo, Jan. 14 (Daily Mirror) - Parliament is scheduled to take up a resolution next week to appoint a select committee to probe the lack of preparedness for Cyclone Ditwah, according to the Office of the Leader of the House.
The resolution will be debated on Wednesday, January 21, 2025, following a decision taken at the party leaders’ meeting.
The Opposition has already requested Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne to appoint one of its members as Chairman of the proposed committee and to ensure that a majority of the committee members are drawn from the Opposition.
Meanwhile, an adjournment debate on the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah has also been scheduled for the same day.
