The Electricity Amendment Bill was passed in Parliament today following its third reading, which was approved without a vote. The second reading of the Bill was earlier approved with a majority of 96 votes, with 121 MPs voting in favour and 25 against.
The Bill includes provisions to restructure the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) by unbundling it into several separate companies. The amendments aim to reform and streamline the electricity sector in Sri Lanka.
