Parliament approves appointment of probe committee on IGP Tennakoon

Parliament today approved a motion to appoint a committee to investigate allegations against IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon.

The resolution was passed with 151 votes in favour and none against, while 73 MPs were absent during the vote.

Notably, three SJB MPs Mujibur Rahman, Ajith P. Perera, and Nizam Karippar voted in favour, along with Opposition MP Ramannathan Archuna and several MPs from Tamil parties.

The news item says 73 absent during voting meaning 73 were not in the Chamber. Deputy Speaker announces number of absentees nil meaning it was a full house. There is a descrepancy in the two statements. It also appears that if it was a full house and 3 from the SJB voted in favour 11 NPP Members have not voted. We like to know them. Many thanks for the opposition members who voted in favour

committees are an absolute waste of tax payers' money leading to more committees to check on the previous committees' deliberations back and forth to the chess board assembly (parliament)/supreme court for a determination provided there are no recusals/ ete., etc when finally all it needs is a due constitutional amendment (now possible) taking all the appropriate committee recommendations to "get rid of the brute" continuing to live at taxpayers expense as a "STATE G UEST" Such determinations should finally be introduced into the constitution to act as a deterrent to future high handed arrogant officials Aren't the administrators conducting state affairs according to the constitution unlike the anti constitutional acts of the previous regime!!!

Anyway, Parliament got the approval to remove Desabandu from the IGP seat. Now the action should work fast to remove him and appoint the Acting IGP as our IGP that's all.
