Paramour arrested for stealing gold jewellery after threatening to show nude photos of woman to her husband
A 23-year-old youth who was having an illicit affair with a woman was arrested for forcibly taking her gold jewellery after threatening her that her nude photographs would be sent to her husband.
Police said the suspect was arrested following a complaint made to the Negombo Police Station yesterday.
According to investigations the suspect had taken the woman to a hotel room and taken her nude photographs while they were together. The suspect had then forcibly taken the gold jewellery worth Rs. 1,785,000 from the woman threatening to show the nude photos to her husband.
The suspect was arrested at the Gomaswatta area in Negombo a few hours after her complaint.
During questioning a piece of gold weighing 04 grams was recovered as the suspect had sold the stolen gold necklace to a shop in Negombo.
The arrested suspect, a resident of Negombo, is scheduled to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate's Court. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
