PM, ministers, state ministers to be summoned by PSC

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, select ministers and a state minister are to be summoned by the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) probing the Easter Sunday attacks on August 6, informed sources said today.

A member of the committee told journalists that Prime Minister Wickremesinghe, Ports and Shipping Minister Sagala Ratnayake - who was one time Law and Order Minister, Minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara - who was Law and Order Minister before October 26, 2019, and State Minister of Defence, Ruwan Wijewardene, will be summoned before the committee on August 6.

Asked whether the President would be summoned before the committee, he said the possibility is that the select committee may have to go to the President and record a statement. “We will go before the President if he agrees, record a statement. If not, we will have to give up the idea of getting a statement from him,” this member said. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)
